FEASTS |
The Roman Catholic Church celebrates the feast of Ss. Gervasis and Prothasis alias Kantheesangal on 19th of June. The Parish of Kothanalloor also celebrates it on the same day with a spectacular get-together of TWINS all over the State of Kerala. Hundreds of pairs of Twins are gathering together every year for the celebration of feast and intercession of the prayer of the Twin Saints. The procession of the feast day in which all the twins are participating is a wonderful sight for all. There are 55 sets of Twins in this parish and 17sets of Twins from other parishes have received the sacrament of Baptism in this Church as according to the data collected in the year of 2008. The celebration of the feast has a preparatory celebration which starts nine days prior to the main feast day. There is special offering of Novena Mass in morning (6.30 am) and evening (5.00 pm) in the preparatory days..
The main feast of this parish is the Circumcision of Infant-Jesus. This is celebrating from December 25th to January 2nd in every year. There are special solemn celebrations of Novena Masses in all these days in morning (6.30 am) and evening (5.00 pm).
This church is a sea of humanity during the festive days. People from various corners of Kerala, especially from the high ranges and Malabar region and from outside Kerala come to this church to offer prayers and seek the intervention of their patron saints. Couples suffer from infertility diseases, children with chronic diseases, students appearing for their examinations, candidates appearing for their interviews, parents wishing to have their children rid off mental imbalances; all throng to this shrine and are reported to have been miraculously cured through their intercession. Irrespective of caste, creed and religion, people assemble in thousands to seek the divine blessings and to thank the twin saints for all the favors received through their intercession.
Every Friday there is Holy Mass and Novena in honour of Ss. Gervasis and Prothasis (06.30 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.). Hundreds take part in these solemn celebrations.
